About Interior Design Course
Interior Design certificate course – in collaboration with Jency John Academy of Creation & Research – is a 2 months course with a practical approach to Interior Design. The course is designed for dynamic young professionals, unemployed youth and students of varied academics with inclination towards design as a profession.
This course has been designed to enable students to independently practice interior design as a profession – as a freelancer, with a firm or set up their own Interior Design Company.
As a student, you will learn how to design consciously with an architectural point of view, new trends in the field, drawing estimates, monetization process of projects, how to charge your clients, how to optimize your fee as a designer as per localized industry standards, how to initiate professional relationships with vendors, artisans, skilled/unskilled workmen and insightful site visits. It’s an exceptional opportunity to learn new skills, foster growth and create an exponentially growing career.
Why is this Course beneficial?
Being an offline course conducted in the capital town of Andaman and Nicobar Islands – Port Blair, it taps into the scarcity vacuum of good Interior Designers on the island. With the advent of the internet and fast paced development in the islands, it is crucial to equip the new generation to design consciously and sustainably; thereby preserving the pristine aura of the emerald islands.
Young designers can bring about an aware change in the cityscape of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, learning from our past and designing for sacred posterity.
Course Content :
The Theory Sessions shall include 7 major modules –
Students will be taken to visit live/completed Projects to understand design decisions on site. An immersive educational experience shall be ensured to bring about professional confidence in the students to make the process of Design to Execution seamless.
Polishing communication and trimming etiquettes is a vital part of a Design profession wherein it is required to present, converse and liaise with clients and vendors alike.
A comprehensive Thesis Project shall be assigned to the students at the onset of the course; on which they shall simultaneously work on during the course and present it on Jury Day for successful completion of the course.
A free of cost Guided Mentorship (on appointment) shall be provided to selected students who display brilliance and design aptitude; wherein they shall be considered for Internship/ Fellowship or freelance practice. Students that express vivid interest in setting up their own Design Firm shall be encouraged and provided professional help and mentorship.

The Interior Design Certificate Course is an educational experience where students become professional and ethical Interior Designers in the fast – paced industry.
Ar. Jency John | Architect
Ar. Jency John is a practicing Architect with 12+ Years of experience in practicing Architecture in Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. She established her firm – Jency John Architects & Engineers – at prime location of Port Blair and practices sustainable design and construction in conventional buildings. Ar. Jency John conducts periodical workshops and seminars on the same at various educational institutions across the island territory.
We welcome applicants from all fields with a flair for design. The minimum eligibility criteria is XIIth Pass.
The Batch structure is Evening Classes – 05:30 PM to 07:00 PM (Mon-Fri). However, due to heavy course structure, students may be asked to come in on Saturday for special seminars. Evening classes are being conducted to encourage and felicitate Professionals and students to join the course.
The course module is a condensed fundamental version of 4-year Bachelors of Interior Design course, spanning 2 months. It covers practical knowledge and skills in areas like designing with softwares, working drawings, building materials, 3D views, site visits, etc.
Students follow organizational guidelines for holidays. Breaks apart from the scheduled ones are discouraged, and students are expected to adhere to organizational rules and regulations.
After successful completion of the course, selected students who display brilliance and design aptitude shall be provided free of cost Guided Mentorship (on appointment); wherein they shall be considered for Internship/ Fellowship or freelance practice. Students from inter – islands, remote islands and mainland are responsible for arranging their own accommodation and food during the course. The Vastukul Team assists in finding accommodation.
Yes, carrying a laptop is mandatory for presentations, lectures, learning softwares and virtual training (not every class). However, students who do not have laptops may use the Academy systems for learning for a week or till they acquire one (whichever is earlier).
No. In case of non-completion of the fellowship tenure, candidates will not be provided with any certification.
