Traditional V/S Digital School of Architecture and Planning
Vastukul aims to bridge the gap between the educational system and the profession. A derivative of the parent words ‘Vastu’ – the science of architecture and ‘kul’ – a sacred place of belonging; we project ourselves to be a pioneer in the larger scheme of things as it does not confine itself in the way that it has been conceptualised or in the way that it unfolds before a user.
Vastukul is based on the ancient philosophies embedded in the Gurukul system of learning. Traditionally the older methods of learning truly focused on delivering a holistic method of imparting knowledge wherein a person learns much more than just the matters of the trade. It used to be a human-making experiment with multiple tangible and intangible skills.
The Gurukul system of education teaches a student how to better themselves, as opposed to comparing their progress by pitting them against one another, thereby creating a healthy environment for the learners to thrive in and a network of pupils who work towards uplifting each other thereby organically learning the art of collaboration.
Ancient tradition of Gurukul (Ancient Education System of India)
The aim is to understand the uniqueness within each child and tap into their potential to help them grow at the pace that they are comfortable in. We recognise that every individual is unique and wish to provide them with the kind of information that they are longing to seek so that they themselves can fill the gaps that they encounter in their paths enabling them to chart their own destinies.
The idea isn’t only to compete with the already existing educational system but also to compliment them by providing interested candidates with a plethora of knowledge; via interactive courses, classes, digital research rooms, opportunities to connect with industry experts and global collaborators, exposure to leaders and professionals around the globe, discussion forums, career guidance sessions, and mentorship programs.
We believe in the ‘exchange of knowledge’ because the distinction between educators and learners is very subjective, as we are all lifelong learners.
Vastukul’s well-being cycle
We’re looking to create a robust global educational platform that will allow a person to learn, innovate and exchange knowledge with regards to architecture, design, and planning.
When a student graduates, they often lack confidence and the technical know-how of being able to start their own practice. This is just one of the many examples of how we wish to prepare our students. They will be provided with ample information that will enable them to make the correct choice for themselves.
We wish to prepare individuals and make them market ready so that they feel confident going out into the field. We want students to be well informed about the reality of the profession and thus will train them for the same.
We understand how overwhelming it can be to make decisions for ourselves without the correct resources, constantly struggling to understand what the next move should be and how to go about it. Such a headspace only ever inhibits a person’s growth and affects them adversely.
We want to make this easier for the learners and provide them with all the guidance they need since we’ve all been there at some point and with Vastukul we wish to make the transition as smooth as possible and enjoyable while we’re at it!
